Sodium Chloride.

I only watched one episode today, but it was lovely.

A few people went down to this planet where a guy and his wife (who was McCoy's ex) needed a lot of salt. Anyway, shit went down, the bitch was really a crazy octopus-looking creature and started killing people and taking over their identities. That was kind of similar to the last episode. Well, not really similar, but along the same lines. There were two of someone on each episode. Eventually, McCoy had to realise that she was not really his long lost love, even if she looked like her. He killed her, and then all was well.

In other news, I have started to remember their names. Hopefully this makes entries easier to write.

Three Shiny Girls, Two Captain Kirks, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

Star Trek is getting better. I guess it could not have gotten any worse, but oh well.

The first episode I watched today had this guy named Harry Mudd (which I think is an awful name), and he had three women with him. They looked like they could be 60s prom queens, and one girl had a dress that was sort of a poncho at the same time. I am thinking that American Apparel should get on that. There could be thousands of people walking around with bedazzled ponchos. Anyway, the ship broke down and they needed some sort of crystal to fix it, so Mudd wanted to trade his women to these miners. However, the women were ugly without taking pills. In the end, I think the lesson was that beauty comes from the inside, but I was unsure. I just liked laughing at the dresses.

Now, the second episode was even better. There were TWO William Shatners. I think this is making up for the lack of one in the pilot (no, I will never let that go). One was good, and one was evil. The evil one yelled a lot and just liked to laugh. It made me die. The good one stopped being able to make decisions. There was also a dog in a costume. He was cute. Some crew members almost froze to death on a planet, as it was -120 C. No fucking shit. They should have died long before that. Whatever.

It actually takes a lot longer to watch these episodes than I thought. I figured I could crank out four or five a day on weekends, but it is hard to fit just two in. They are fairly drawn out, and it does not help that there are no commercial breaks. I add my own sometimes, but it does not help too much. Oh well, if I keep this pace, I will still finish in time, and that is all that matters.

Is This a Cube?

So, for my first episode of Star Trek, I made a video.

The other two episodes I watched today were much better.

One had psychic abilities where some guy went insane and had to be killed. The one guy and girl that were turning into Gods had the most ridiculous silver eyes. It was hilarious. Captain Kirk saved the day, of course, by just throwing a giant rock on top of the guy. Apparently while he can read through walls and lift people up and force them to do things, he cannot get out of a hole with a rock on top. Oh.

In the second episode, there was a giant cube. Whenever it came up on the screen, this intense music played. The cube belonged to another ship that tried to kill everyone, but it just turned out to be a test from some manbaby with too much time on his hands. I thought it was bullshit.

Oh well. At least these episodes had William Shatner.

So It Begins.

Well, I suppose that the first post should describe exactly what it is I am doing.

My name is Amber. I am an eighteen year old student attending university. I have a lot of spare time on my hands.

Today, March 14, 2009, marks the start of what I guess I have called Star Trek Year. It is the challenge made to me by my friend Kyle of whether or not I could watch all of the episodes of Star Trek and the movies in a single year. The challenge ends at midnight on March 14, 2010. Why am I doing this? That is a good question. Basically, I like a challenge and really have nothing better to do with my time. Also, if I win, Kyle owes me a hundred dollars. Is a year of my life worth a hundred dollars? Apparently.

I will be posting (hopefully) every day about what I have watched, through both written posts and videos. My aim is to have fun with this, as I am not convinced at this time that I am going to enjoy the next year of my life.

I should probably mention that I have never watched an entire episode of Star Trek in my life. I guess that is about to change.
